Carinthia is a Federal Province in Austria with a lot of wood and timber construction is on the rise there. Showcase projects like the exhibition hall or the main building of the professional fire brigade in Klagenfurt are good examples.

The diversity of modern timber construction was demonstrated at the expert conference 'Sustainable development of cities and municipalities with wood' by the renown architects Tom Lechner, Dietger Wissounig and Tom Kaden in the town hall of Klagenfurt on 3 September 2014.
